We've all experienced those challenging moments when we're forced to take action and make difficult choices that completely alter our life course. It was precisely that one such moment that I felt compelled to capture through illustration. I drew inspiration from the archetype of the 13th tarot card that, though often associated with death, speaks more to a new beginning than to an end.
Of course, for something to begin anew, it must first come to an end. Thus, in the dichotomy of life and death, I created the image of a skull providing shelter for moths, allowing them to evolve and soar freely in this new stage of their life cycle.
The second piece is a bit more complex to explain. I created it during a period of great vulnerability when I felt lost, trapped, and lifeless because I wasn't using my creativity. I was surrounded by things that bound me tighter and tighter.
However, my dreams and desires for freedom were ever-present, symbolized by swallows. At that moment, though I was uncertain of my whereabouts and future, I felt certain that I would return to my rightful place.
